Research basis. The retention figures cited above (20–30%) reflect outcomes from controlled laboratory studies of Targeted Memory Reactivation (TMR), including Rasch et al. (2007, Science), Rudoy et al. (2009, Science), Oudiette & Paller (2013, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences), and Hu et al. (2020, Cerebral Cortex). These studies used olfactory and auditory cues during slow-wave sleep under polysomnographic monitoring. Results varied by memory type, cue modality, sleep architecture, and individual differences.

What we don't guarantee. NOVA is not a medical device. The forgetting curve visualization above is an illustrative model based on Ebbinghaus (1885) and modern TMR literature — not a guarantee of specific outcomes. Individual results will vary based on sleep quality, material complexity, baseline memory ability, and adherence. NOVA has not yet been evaluated in independent clinical trials.
